Ph.D. Thesis: Role of the pga1gene of Penicillium chrysogenum, encoding a heterotrimeric G protein alpha subunit, in morphogenesis and penicillin production.

About

I have interest in the effect of heterotrimeric G-proteins (signal transduction) on morphogenesis and metabolism of filamentous fungi of industrial application. My research has been focus on the control mechamisms regulating development and biosynthesis of secondary metabolites in Penicillium sp. The genus Penicillium includes a widespread group of ascomycetous filamentous fungi containing a large number of species, many of which have great importance in human activities related to industry, food storage and elaboration and as animal pathogens.
Others interesting topics include: phylogeny and molecular evolution of proteins.
